CISF Jawans Caught Vietnamese Citizen Smuggling Red Sandalwood at Delhi Airport – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

CISF personnel have caught a Vietnamese citizen smuggling sandalwood at Delhi airport. 11.970 kg of banned red sandalwood has been recovered from the passenger’s possession, which is worth Rs 25 lakh. The passenger has been handed over to forest officials. Forest department officials are interrogating the passenger.

CISF officer said that on June 8 at 9 pm, surveillance and intelligence personnel deployed for security at Terminal 3 of Delhi airport noticed suspicious activities of a foreign passenger in the check-in area. On suspicion, the jawans detained the passenger. The passenger was identified as Nguyen Than Tung, a resident of Vietnam. During interrogation, it was found that the passenger was to go from Delhi to Hanoi by Viet Jet flight.

CISF jawans checked the passenger’s bag on the X-ray machine. Some suspicious items were seen in the bag. After this, the jawans took him to the Customs Department office, where the passenger’s bag was searched in front of the Customs officials. Two pieces of logs were found hidden inside the bag. Forest department officials were contacted and called to the airport to identify them. Forest department officials confirmed that the logs were red sandalwood.
